Candied Yams

2 c. b. sugar
1/2 c. karo
1/2 c. water
1/8 lb. butter
cooked pieces of yams (I use canned- 1 or 2 cans)

Boil to softball stage. Add vanilla. Whip 'til it begins to thicken.
Gradually add canned milk or cream and continue beating until soft consistency.
Alternate layers of yams and sauce.
Heat in oven.
